More about MicroBeats

Thanks to funding from Youth Music The Brewhouse is now able to offer urban based music provision for young people aged 8-18.  The MicroBeats project see’s The Brewhouse working with Baby People a music and arts development organisation based in Derby. Baby People are the UK’s first dedicated Hip Hop school and use art and culture to engage and support the needs of young people.

MicroBeats has started with sessions at schools and weekly workshops at Queens Street Community Centre, Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre and at The Brewhouses as part of the Young Creatives programme.

MicroBeats involves  6 distinct but connected strands, developed across each year of the project:
- Taster sessions with urban music artists
- Urban Choir in schools and The Brewhouse
- Summer music workshops
- Evening workshops
- Sharing Event
- Conference

The project aims to increase participants confidence at using music technology to produce and perform music of their own.
